In this paper, a numerical simulation of the solidification of metal matrix composite (MMC) is presented. The metal alloy used in the MMC is Al-4.5%Cu. The simulation is based on an axisymmetric model with enthalpy formulation of the energy equation coupled with the momentum equations. The simulation will facilitate an approximation to the experimental result when the real setup is carried out in the laboratory. This paper focuses on the importance of the sink heat used at the end of the fibers to extract heat from the liquid metal.
