Abstract
The effective properties as well as local elastic and electric fields in smart electrostrictive composite materials with periodic microstructure are estimated by using the Fourier series technique (Nemat-Nasser et al., 1993) and the equivalent inclusion method (Eshelby, 1957). The developed model involves many microstructural parameters and can provide guidelines for the design of flexible, nonlinear electrostrictive transducers.
