In this paper, a practical inverse model of MR damper is proposed for current tuning of the actuator to track the desired force by the control unit for vehicle suspension system. The piecewise polynomial method is used to develop a series of simple models for different regions of force-velocity characteristics of the MR damper. Accordingly, the current signal is estimated by linear formulation of minimum and maximum forces generated by MR damper. The effectiveness of the proposed model is validated for a variety of excitation in Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) simulation.
