The evaluation of a gas turbine starts out with the basic cycle analysis and ends up with developing techniques for field performance evaluation and maintenance scheduling. This paper outlines the various cycles available to the user and the performance of each of these cycles. It also outlines techniques and equations which may be used in the field to get a fast and relatively accurate check on the performance of these units. Also some significant parameters and their sensitiveness on the calculations are indicated. The paper also investigates the way exhaust temperature readings may be utilized as an effective maintenance tool.
