The objective of this paper is to develop a methodology for coronary stent product development, which is focused on design and simulation. The new methodology imposes a series of engineering design disciplines upon coronary stent product development with the aim of making the development more flexible and more time-efficient.

Over the past 25 years, many stents designs are developed and are available for use in the market. Even though there is huge selection in stents, the medical device industries are exploring new designs to operate the complex lesions. Clinicians and medical device manufactures are looking for new stent platforms to either improve current designs or to deploy the drug eluting stents successfully in the torturous lesion arteries. Thus, this research develops new stent designs for the complex medical needs.
